Another Nomads victory over the 'Boys in Blue'

First Paul Maloney wandered into Imber court but could not be persuaded to don his whites and play. Then much later Kelvin Sutherland wandered in and having missed the fielding was delighted to be batting at number 7. Thus we batted 11 but fielded 10 for quite a while.

Met Police batted first but despite a solid start failed to accelerate in the final overs setting Nomads  a very reasonable target of 204 to win. Chris Philips was top scorer with 69.

After the usuall splendid tea Nomads with a formidable batting line up set off in chase of their target. However in Fretwell Met Police had a useful opening bowler who removed Hoare early. Lascelles was next to go also to Fretwell.Marshall now joined Wakefield and these two quickly added 45 runs Marshall 29 off 27 balls.Wakers look set to bat through yet at 103 he was caught off Montague in the bowlers first over.Joe Ireland dug deep as debutant MacNamara hit fours 4s and a 6 in a beezy innings.

When Sutherland joined Ireland so the latter's batting began to flourish and these two added 49 quick runs before Sutherland was clean bowled by Davenport with 33 runs still required. Ireland now went into overdrive hitting a flurry of 4s. Debutant Divraj was carelessly out with the scores level. Skipper Charlton Lamb duly played out a maiden as Joe was on 48*. First ball next over Joe pushed a single the game was won and he was left on 49*.

"If I knew he was going to do that I'd have scored the winning single myself, he was supposed to hit a boundary" barked the skipper with a grin!.

Nomads had won with 3.5 overs to go. As usuall several Nomads drank late at the excellent Imber Court Club House.
