Nomads batting disappoints

After a sound opening partnership of 136 wickets fell steadily thereafter so Wembley declared after 42 overs setting Nomads 234 to win in around 40 overs. Rohan Sur had bowled well to take a sevenfer and the rest had done well to constrain a strong Wembley batting line up.

The Kensington run machine of Shahzeb and Ghosh fell early but John Olive flayed the Wembley bowling to reach a quick fifty . He was then out for 54 with the score at 83-4.The dependable Rohan Sur fell for 19 and Chris 'Gas' Chambers for a mere 9. Chambers had score a ton against us at Barnes earlier in the season. With the run chase now off, a draw seemed likely, but with two wickets falling at 128 defeat loomed. Yet a late stand between veterans Chris Wilson and Antonini Trapani put on 15 and the last wicket had added 34 when Trapanni was out for 21 in sight of the draw. Andrew Smith had elected to bat 11 when deprived of his number 5 spot by Rohan Sur. Despite defeat Nomads lingered long at the bar.

Hanif Mohammed the great Pakistani batsmen came and watched much of this game. He was most unimpressed with his son Shahzed's dismissal." Silly shot" he muttered. If only Shazeb had applied some of his father's reknown concentration and adhesion to the crease the result may have been rather different.
