Nomads played only one match in Vienna 2010.the second game was rained off.Indeed it rained from Saturday evening until Monday evening when we left Vienna after a day of damp sight seeing.
Starting early to avoid the anticipated evening rain Tim Carter and Maninder put on an an impressive first wicket stand that gave momentum to a large Nomads total in the 35 overs allowed.
After a sumptious tea which arrived in batches Richard Clarke bowled a very mean opening spell taking two wickets for 21. The slow start by Vienna gave the rest of the baysmen too much to do despite fifties from Smith and Kennedy. Tim Carter had a good match behind the stumps taking two catches and one stumping.
Having showered and wondering where to drink as the local hostelry was mysteriously closed so the rain started.
Herr Kennedy celebrates 50 not out but Vienna have lost
MATCH 09 Nomads CC v Vienna CC Sunday May 16th at Seebarn Austria 12.00 noon
Match Cancelled Due to Deluge
Most of Sunday was spent in an Irish Pub watching a variety of major sports events before repairing at about 9pm to a nearbye Hungarian restaurant and it was still raining. Naturally we don't remember which Vienna Irish Pub.
Next morning some of us visited the Palace of Prince Eugene of Savoy before catching the airplane home. It was still raining
Despite the rain another very enjoyable visit to Vienna where Nomads have many contacts.
