Openers coast to 10 wicket win
Andy Newton, Montenotte skipper, won the toss and elected to bat on a damp pitch. After 20 overs Montenotte's openers had reached 52 helped by our 'volunteer' wicket keeper.'Killer' Rameez replaced Ssebanja and bowled Plum who had looked to be in fine form stroking six 4s through the covers,58-1 in the 23rd over. Furness nudged as Fletcher slowly came out of his shell punishing Rameez's late overs, benefiting from some over throws and continued to open up off Olufawo and Paul Crego's loose balls.
The reintroduction of Ssbanja brought success as both Furness and Newton were bowled,159-3 off 44 overs and although Fletcher continued to score freely Gerard soames removed both Singh and Shah for ducks. Ssbanja had his third wicket when he bowled White for 3 in the 51st over. white hing around with Fletcher to add another 20 runs of which 8 were byes befor the declaration came at 212 off 53 overs. Nomads had bowled their overs at 19 per hour.
After an excellent tea Mike Blake and John Olufawo chased the target with some ease.Olufawo finished on 130 not out.Blake may have reached a century as well had he not appeared to go to sleep at the crease while on 45 for a very long time.
Montenotte's bowling was very poor. In the past they have been much stronger with some good contests resulting. Indeed the record shows four wins for both clubs.
Members of both clubs imbibed late into the evening some enjoying a Thai dinner as well.
