++ Andy Weeks started the game as wicket keeper but injured his knee in the 18th over whereupon Woolhouse who opened the bowling then kept wicket later recording his first ever stumping

** Curiously the 2006 report includes the following-" A Weekes started the match as wicket keeper but retired from the field injured after an hour whereupon Wycherley took over the gloves and by arrangement with the opposition 12th man Ollie Weekes replaced his father in the team and bowled.

 Nomads Capitulate

To general astonishment the team received a call around 11.00am from the Match Manager Russ Mann that the game was on and indeed the match was played in warm sunshine most of the afternoon though the pitch was naturally slow and soft.

In a turnaround every bit as remarkable as the test match at Old Trafford Nomads handed the game to a young East Horsley side in the meekest of manners. Nomads provided a series of gentle catches and two hard ones  off five half volleys and two long hops when only 189 in nearly 50 overs was required. Andrew  Hill  alone constructed an innings

Early East Horsley found themselves in all sorts of trouble after a confident start slumping from 30 for none to 52-6. However having suncumbed to the seam of Woolhouse and Peters the tail with a strong influence from South Africa thrived on the slow bowling of Page and Blumberg. In particular Emslie nimbly used his feet well to drive Page and rock back to pull Blumberg. A younger fielding side may have caught some aerial mis hits and saved several boundary fours. The result was that the last three wickets more than doubled the score.

Having bowled out the opposition in 33 overs Nomads were under no pressure despite being down to nine men and the innings started with in air of confidence. Andy Hill had hit 98* on his last visit and there were some good batsmen in the top order to say nothing of the quality in the tail.

But then who is the fool who predicts the course of a cricket match. Two gentle half volleys caressed to the fielders and a mighy pull straight to square leg and the innings was in tatters,26-3(really 26-5). A couple of stands gave some vain hope while Hill was at the crease but when he fell to a great catch in the covers as of a fierce cut the quest was finished. Blumberg was questioned by the skipper as what was the plan and replied there was probably 23 overs to go and the bar was not yet open. He then played out a maiden. Curiously Charlton Lamb missed a full toss and was bowled. Nomads had lost by 89 runs with the twenty overs still not called.

A few hours later having hopefully drunk the fixture back and having recruited some younsgters for future mid week matches senior Nomads departed!
