Tim Carters' wrist spin swings match Nomads' way

On a very hot afternoon Nomads won the toss, gave the opposition three players(MacVicar, Harlowe and Lane) and lost Tim Carter for a duck and soon afer James Smith. Mehboob Umarjie hit a swift 37 before falling to a long hop that failed to bounce indeed several wickets were to come from the unpredictable bounce. Shomit Dutta partnered successively by Andy Peters, Andy Hill and Keith Alexander steadily built up a substantial total. Nomads declared at 234 from 45.4 overs.

In reply Joe Ireland stroked his way to a fluent fifty while Stonewall James hung on at the other end. Shah and Cowley were unlucky not to take several wickets and between them bowled 20 overs for just 60 runs. The slows came on and had some early success but the bold hitting of young Angus Mylne with assistance from Feltham and MacVicar took the Pink Elephants towards a win. Then a flurry of wickets either side of 200 brought the innings to a close, 25 runs short with 2 overs to go.

Again a good body of players from both sides took ale for some hours at the nearby Barley Mow Pub.
