Nomads seamers too good for Shepperton

Nomads arrived on this glorious sunny warm afternoon to find the car park choc-a-block and the ground being used by two excellent Ladies cricket XIs. However the nearbye school ground on which we played turned out to be a pleasantly tree lined ground and with the sun blazing all day the lack of apavilion was of little consequence.

Brockers won the toss and chose to bat.Opening with Fahad Raja these two made a steady start terminated when Brockers attempted an ambitious off side glance only to be bowledby one that nipped back. Fahad fell soon after failing to get on top of an off drive which Extra Cover caufgt.Peerless's poor form continued as he fell lbw,70-3.

Andrew Smith and Ronnie Patel added 22 before Andrew mistimed an airial drive and was caught off Garside and Robbie blackburn fell to the same bowler cheaply,104-6 in the 29th over. Fine fielding by Shepperton in support of their bowlers together with a lush outfield contributed to a sluggish run rate.

Debutant alan Newman joined Ronnie and the run rate accelerated as 37 runs were quickly added.Alan cut high to point whereupon Sajjad joined Ronnie and smashed the bowling to good effect and great distances so that although there were two run outs in the last over Nomads had reached a respectable 182-8 off the allocated 40 overs. Ronnie Patel was undefeated on 44.

The trufge back to the shepperton clubhouse for tea was well rewarded as the tea was of high quality and quantity.

When Shepperton batted wickets fell steadilt our impressive seam attack of Sajjad Shawl,Robbie blackbirn and Ben Smith. A one handed caught and bowled by Ben Smith was asuperb effort. A returning Shawl bowled Shepperton top scorer Kilhams and the introduction of Charles Perless produced two more wickets to good catches by Ben Smith and Robbie Blackburn. Skipper Tom Brockton cleaned up the tail to give Nomads a victory by 48 runs and an early return to the clubhouse, showers and bar!
