Remarkable win by Nomads

Nomads secured a most remarkable victory over Middleton Stoney thanks to some fine seam bowling from Stu Reeves and Robbie Blackburn. That we any total to defend was due a remarkable innings at number 10 from Gareth Hunt.Nomads considered they had a formidable line up of batsmen yet when Gareth joined Stu Reeves the innings was in tatters at 66-8. Reeve and Hunt then added 34 before Reeve was caught behind. Hunt was now joined by Oliver Croom-Johnson, no stranger to the need for tail end heroics to save a Nomads innings. These two then added a further 49 although Oliver suffered a calf muscle strain requiring a runner. Gareth Hunt hit eight 4s and Oliver one 4 to take Nomads into tea, a very much happier bunch than looked likely earler.

After a splendid tea Nomads opened with Reeve and Blackburn and wickets fell quickly with the only resistance coming from young Moore the only batsman to reached double figures. Stu Reeve finished with six and Robbie Blackburn three, the tenth wicket resulted from a run out by skipper Tom Brockton.

On successive weekends Stu Reeve has entered the All Time Honours Boards with a ton and now a sixfer. Well played Stu and well played Robbie, Gareth and the resolute Oliver whose injury we hope repairs quickly.

Middleton Stoney remains a most attractive cricket ground and a most hsopitable club and many Nomads lingered long on a fine summer's evening joined by MS stalwarts George and Georgina Lamb.
