Kie Farrell leads the charge as Nomads win with ease

Nomads ran out easy victors in their first trip to the pretty ground of Cublington CC which is a short drive from Aylesbury in a lovely village where the cricket ground seems to be the focal point for the locals.

Cublington's skipper Farr won the toss and gleefully elected to bat, which looked like a somewhat strange decision based on the age of his side (a few old hands and a lot of very young cricketers).  His decision back-fired as the the home side was restricted to a paltry 150-8 from their allotted 40 overs. Only former Northwood cricketer Andrew Powell-Williams stood firm, striking a well crafted 66 after coming out of retirement this season to play cricket with his two sons.

The rest of the side (bar Ings-Chambers snr) failed with wickets spread around, Page, Steele, Brockton and Croom-Johnson all taking 2 wickets. Andrew Smith also bowled an accurate spell despite Nomads fielding being somewhat lacklustre (an understatement). In fact dropping ahost of catches!

150 was certainly below par and the opening pair of Kie Farrell and Tom Liversidge had put on 98 in 17 overs when Liversidge was bowled for 31 by an Inglis nip-backer. Experienced cricketer Andy Stokes joined Farrell and they knocked off the remaining 50 odd runs with consumate ease, taking only 7 1/2 over more to get over the line for the loss of no further wickets. Farrell unbeaten on 75.

Nomads retired to the lovely sunny Unicorn bub in the village (best pub in Cublington) for a good few drinks and some Chris Page inspired banter. Nomads have now won 12 and drawn 4 of their last 16 games, the only UK loss of the season coming against Barnes Common on a wet and windy day in April.
