Paramedics on the pitch brings exciting game to premature end

Nomads had bowled well to restrict Oxford Downs to 193, most of which were scored by Chris Wakefield who just had time to complete a fine century. Until Blumberg bowled Habberday ODs looked set for a big total but four ducks followed.

Skipper Russell fell early but a solid stand between Lenton & Leatherman added 103 runs .Then both Kiwis fell leaving us with 79 runs to get. Jeavons and Blumberg added nearly forty before being bowled. Trevor Griffiths failed to bother the scorers but Hammill and youngster Long took us to within a whisper of victory when Lurcock bowled Nick Hamill. Victory thus lay with our two 'borrowed' youngsters and the septuagenarian John White. Twisting to regain his ground when sent back the young Long incurred a horrible injury to one of his knees.

By the time paramedics arrived and took the injured player who was in agony off to hospital no one was in the mood to complete the game, the skippers shook hands and abandoned the match.
