                             Nomads thrashed by Romany

Despite a long line of batsmen Nomads succumbed meekly between the showers at Shenley. Lascelles and Keess made a dogged stand to give  some respectability to Nomads' total but these two were out more from frustration. Only Woolhouse managed to add to the innings which finished on 142 just as Rajabali drove into the car park. Scored off 52.3 overs this was not entertaining stuff but from 49-5 it represented some sort of recovery.

The damage to our top order was done by Richard Clark who had played for Nomads against the Sargent's Men in June. An inspired series of spells in damp conditions between several showers brought him the scalps of Blake,While,Al-Darraji and Smith for a mere 35 runs. Subsequently scoring against the magical spin of Sonu Sharma who played for Nomads against Nerja Modi Veterans in June was extremely difficult as he bowled six maidens out of 11 overs.

The weather improved as the day progressed and Neil Senn enjoyed an aggressive innings hitting 60 off 57 balls before being trapped by Rajabali lbw.Meanwhile Pang-Kessler and While took three wickets but Senn's innings took Romany to within 21 runs of their target and Das and Sharma hit off the remainder without mishap.

So Romany notch their first victory over Nomads  by some distance after last year's high scoring drawn match. Both teams enjoyed the fine setting of Shenley and each others' company over many an ale but the fixture will now move to a less expensive venue. Three donors contributed to the sponsorship of this match.
