Nomads win with flurry of sixes

Nomads enjoyed a fine summer's day at Middleton Park and celebrated the Ashes victory with a resounding win of their own.

Middleton Stoney won the toss and elected to bat. Against some good bowling from While and Surendram little progress was achieved so that after 10 overs MNS had amassed 14 and three wickets had fallen for 18. As the bowlers changed runs increased somewhat so 43 were scored by drinks at 20 overs. Satter removed Thompson,59-4. The introduction of skipper Collins and Alex Page helped the run rate improve and a stand by Reynolds and Pearson added 70 runs. The reintroduction of While and Pradeesh Surendram saw four more wickets fall until the eight wicket added a further 13 runs before tea and the declaration. Carter and Page took good catches.
Phil Stubbings opened with a repaired Jeremey Lascelles and was soon bowled by Mitchel. Satter joined Lascelles and entertained with some mighty sixes producing a stand of 83.  While entered and hit a couple of boundaries and Abdul was well caught on the boundary,92-4,

Neil Senn joined Pradeesh Surendram and set about M S's bowling with relish matching Abdul's four 6s with four of his own the last of which won the game in a most handsome manner.

After the game Nomads enjoyed the barbeque prepared by Georgina Lamb and several ales as the sun set over this beautiful ground.

One of Collins' finer productions someone remarked even if he did leave earlier than usual.

Nomads were supported by Jenny Butler, Sarah, Tim Carter's partner, a dog called Biscuit and the President who scored the Nomads innings.
