Tom Marshall sees Nomads home to comfortable win

Nomads fielded a team of nine bowlers plus awicket Keeper who also bowls and of course the President who used to bowl. Skipper Keith Alexander won the toss and fielded. The pitch was damp ans the atmosphere cold in contrast to the heat wav earlier in the week.

Nomads opened up with young Tom Marshall and Omer Ayaz and Tom quickly had Coutney Brion caught behind. Crouch End's batsmen were intent on batting t20 style so boundaries began to flow quickly .However Tom removed Dilan lbw,35-2.

Adu and Karul swung merrily adding 46 until Tom took his third wicket bowling Karul, 81-3. Soon after the innings imploded with two wickets for Chris Pahe whohad replaced Tom Marshall and another to Oliver Croom-Johnson who replaced Omer Ayaz,104-6. Chris page took his third wicket when Tom Marshall took agood catchat deep mid wicket,124-7.The innings might well and truly have  folded then and then if two catches off Page had been taken. In the event skipper Yorke and Mo added 27 before Gregory trapped Yorke lbw. Mo motored on not without chances finding partners in Ranil lbw Robbins and Chanchal so that the innings had reached 214 off 40 overs when the innings was declared.A generous declaration which meant Nomads could expect 49 overs back.Mo completed his fifty courtesy of a dropped slipped catch by the President when he was on 49.

After an excellent curry tea welcome on acold damp day nomads opened by Vithlani and Andy Marshall. Suraj Vithlani was qucik to punish anything loose but bacame the victim of over ambition miscuing a big drive on 19,29-1. Omer Ayaz joined Andy and these two progressed circumspectly until Andy was caught on 33,63-1.

Andy was replaced by his son Tom. Omer Ayaz then began platying many a fine shot and after a cautious start Tom Marshall also accelerated. These two had added 97 useful runs when Omer miscued and caught,165-3. Joshi joined Tom and these two flayed the bowlint to all parts bringing victory with 11 overs to spare. Tom had reached 69 not out and Joshi a quick  29 off 22 balls.

Nomads lingered at the bar for some hours after the end of play with some advice being given to Tom Marshall who was going up to Birmingham University Freshers week the next day.
