Draw in the Drizzle

This was a freezing cold day with  on and off dizzle. Woldingham crawled along against some accurate bowling until Nick Johnson at number six came in. He swung his bat to great effect hitting three 6s off the returning opening bowler Odell to elevate Woldingham's innings to 172-6 after 40 overs whereupon they declared.

Nomads lost wickets steadily especially to the skillfull in swinging Siddell but it was unfortunate that Andrew Dunley, originally from Woldingham CC, was run out when batting fluently on 47. At 85-6 Nomads were unlikely to reach their target. However  Tony Whiteway batting low in the order steadied the ship with an obdurate 27 not out  ably assisted by Tomlin (19). Peter Mathews did not disturb the scorers but Astbury held out and the match was drawn  with Nomads some 29 runs short of victory with two wickes left.
