Sajjad finds rhythm and takes sevenfer as depleted Turville Park side collapse
B oth sides were depleted so some youngsters filled in although each side had twelve in total but eleven batted and fielded.
Nomads won the toss and batted first on what was a pitch of variable pitch only to lose a wicket quickly to a good catch at deep gulley by Miss Rogers. Jemile Al-Darraji joined Keith Juriansz and these two added 43 whereupon Jemile succumbed to a ball from the tall seamer Steadman which popped up surprisingly to give a catch to the wicket keeper. four wickets now fell for six runs as Keith was bowled by white while two Stokes & Andrew Smith were removed by Steadman.A few runs later Sajjad Shawl was caught behind also off Steadman so Nomads had slumped to 62-7.
Skipper Brockton joined David Steele and these two set about rescuing the Nomads innings adding 25 runs before Brockton misjudged a lollypop from Henry and was caught and bowled.
Debutant Australian Matt Durrant attack the bowling with gusto hitting one massive six before he was bowled by another cunning slow from Henry. The President joined Steele and another ten runs were added whereupon Steele attempting an on side cut, chopped the ball onto his stumps. Nomads were all out for 125 off 36.5 overs, a triffle early for the industrious tea ladies.
After a splendid tea Turbeville Park opened with Steadman and Miss Rogers. The latter quickly hit a four off Jemile and Steadman struck Sajjad for a boundary four but at 13 Sajjad bowled Miss Rogers. Although both Steadman and Hancock hit a six, wickets fell steadily to Sajjad until Brockton introduced himself and removed the obdurate Henry. Sajjad took seven before young Will Stokes was asked to bowl. Nomads did not have to wait long for the final two wickets as the younger Master Bush, in his enthusiasm, ran out first his brother and then number 11 the veteran Greenwood, both in the same Will Stokes over.
Nomads had won a low scoring match by 63 runs. Members of both teams enjoyed a fine evening in the garden of the Chequers Pub in the village of..Fingest...
