Nashville race to run reduced target
It was a miracle we played at all on Monday but we did and a very enjoyable day was had by all not least due to the hospitality of our hosts Northwood Cricket Club. A 45 over game was agreed with bowlers' restrictions and Nomads won the toss and batted. Jamie Lane and Russ Mann were out cheaply but Rob Wycherley struck fine form to make his first Nomads century and with Jeremy Lascelles put on 213 for the third wicket. A total of 233-4 had been reached with another 10 overs of slog to come when the rains stopped play.
Some hours later and another football match completed, play was resumed with a revised target of 170 off 30 overs agreed. After 5 overs 45 was on the board and in six opening overs 16 were conceded in wides alone. Although Ahmed(spin) and Hodges(seam) took three wickets and stemmed the flow for a while, Khan and Burnett aided by some inept fielding, dropped and declined catches, stormed towards victory with some mighty hitting.
Much thanks to the Northwood kitchen and barbeque chef Chris Rogers for some several excellant meals and the Nomads President Richard Kershaw for equally excellant red wine at lunch.
Nashville presented Nomads with a placque to commemorate the tour but forgot to bring it to Northwood. So here it is held by Hon Sec Michael Blumberg and skipper/match manager Andy Stokes, albeit at another location.
