West Indies 'Mix' no match for Nomads on dreadful pitch
On Friday we beat London West Indies 'Mix' at the attractive Mayow Park on an appalling pitch amidst much high drama and comedy from the opposition throughout the game. We won the toss and batted in another 40/40 game and soon lost two wickets to very low bouncing balls. However Rohan Sur applied himself to the task ably assisted by Gautom Menon and Fahad Rajah and with the help of the hapless wicket keeper and 61 extras we reached a total of 206 (Rohan Sur run out 70).
After an excellent Caribbean Curry at the interval, Nomads regularly took wickets, Will Vincent finishing with three, one a superb catch by Fahad Rajah and we ran out the second opener amidst much confusion and recrimination. Rohan Sur now wound a web of mystery in the minds of the batsmen to take five wickets for mere 17 runs and Sunil Fernando took the ninth. We had won by 100 runs and as a result received a huge trophy as this match was played in memory of Tony Leslie, a revered Caribbean Cricket Coach and Cricket event organiser. Chris Wilson declared on Facebook he had never played in such an amusing match
