 Nomads Batting fails

Nomads suffered a 5 wicket defeat at Northwood on Easter Monday on a sunny but windy day. Mustering a mere 137 with 26 from Lamb and 54* from Fellows-Smith nevertheless Nomads made Northwood fight for their runs as Fellow-Smith took 5 wickets. 

Despite a plethora of appeals from the other end none of the other 6 bowlers tried could match Fellows-Smith and so a productive 6th wicket stand saw the home side through to victory by 5 wickets with a few overs to spare. 

A better day behind the stumps and first slip would have helped Nomads' cause but an enjoyable day was had despite the result. Eight of those playing had toured in India earlier in the year which added to the bonhomie of the side...better next time please!! 

The decision to bat first on an early season pitch was perhaps a risky one but a few more runs from batsmen 1,3 and 5 would have made this a very competitive game. 

As it was the pitch did play in an eccentric manner as well as slowly with some of the shot selection hardly appropriate not least the last of the Hon Sec and Centenary captain!! and he was playing on his original 'home' ground...46 years since debut.
