Nomads CC celebrated their centenary year with a lengthy tour of India starting after Christmas 2002 organised by Discover India of Rayners Lane Middlesex
A substantial party of players and supporters went on this tour plus scorers and umpires. A good batting side we were short of seam bowling. The team was captained by Mark Surridge. Andy Stokes hit two centuries and Paul Wakefield hit one century. In our opening match Joe Ireland took a 'fifer'.

It was hoped that for part of the tour Lagaan Actor/Cricketers Chris England, Howard Lee, Jamie Whitby-Coles Jon House, Ray Eves etc would join us. It would have helped if the Doordashan official who signed the deal with Vikram Kaul for the 'Lagaan' match had not disappeared for fortnight's vacation prior to our departure. They never did come despite the efforts of Keith Alexander, Sukumar Pathak and Michael Blumberg and then the herculean machinations of Steve Marions and G Charlton Lamb while on tour!!!
Ben Nealon arrives Delhi as in Lagaan Film, signing autographs and giving interviews on tour
