Nomads win high scoring match
Nomads won an exciting match at Barnes on Wednesday.Barnes chasing 272 to win in a 40/40 contest required 25 off the last two overs and 20 off the last over.Hackwood hit a mighty six the first ball of Nic Cowley's final over but then holed out to long on, caught David MacVicar. Cowley then clean bowled the next batsman and Nomads were winners by 11 runs.
Nomads innings was set up with a fifty from Andy Peters and 49 from Martin Newkirk but received a mighty boost from Shahzeb who smote 52 quick runs to take Nomads to 271-5.Andreas Dracoulis hit two mighty sixes.
Barnes set off in chase at a furious pace but were pegged back by MacVicar and Blumberg(apart from his last over which Hackwood plundered for 22!) Alex Scott reached a fine century before being caught off MacVicar. A mean accurate spell from Martin Newkirk stiffled the run flow in the closing overs although Hackwood maintained the chase into the final over.
