Drop Outs hasten Nomads demise
Drop outs spoiled the balance of the Nomads eleven and an injury to one player on the morning of the match forced us to play with ten men. Ramblers won the toss and inserted Nomads. Omar Ayaz set off at pace but his attractive cameo came to an end when he miscued attempting to on drive and was caught. The innings then lost momentum but in the event Nomads posted a respectable total 210 off 43 overs thanks to Tom Marshall scoring a good fifty, Kyle Bradley an obdurate 44 and Ash Arora a swift and effective slog 32.
With the extended period taken for tea partly due to the trudge back to the Peter May Pavilion from the second pitch this left Ramblers just 31 overs. On paper Nomads had a decent attack but with indifferent fielding and one man short could put little pressure on their hosts. Ramblers romped home in a mere 24.2 overs with Phillips hitting a fine century.
Both teams repaired to a nearby hostelry to celebrate Phillips century and agreed to start earlier next year and definitely play on the main ground.
