Nomads bowlers deny Medics victory
Quite how the Medics did not win this match is a bit of a mystery. Perhaps it was excellent bowling by Nomads who took 5 wickets for 21 runs as Thomies closed in on their target or perhaps St Thomas' future eminent medics thinking victory a foregone conclusion celebrated too soon on the Pimms.
After a solid start Nomads innings flounded with half the side out for 113. That Nomads reached any total at all was due to Phd Dr Allen Abramson('Ratty') who played his best innings for Nomads(61) taking the visitors to 206-9.Nomads declared one run later after 60 overs leaving the Medics a potential 47 overs to make 208.
Thomies untroubled with Nomads bowling put on 119 for the first wicket and then had reached 166 with opener Murphy on 99 requiring 42 to win. Then Clancy having received some punishment from Murphy had him stumped by Campbell on 99. Clancy took another three wickets and Blumberg one as the Medis collapsed with the innings closing 11 runs short.
Should any mature medic come across this scorecard and recognise the names and therefore the correct initials please let us know at howzat@nomadscc.com and likewise any pics of the former splendid St Thomas' cricket ground.
