Nomads made the trip to leafy Putney for the first UK game of the 2013 season and under cloudy skies and a bitter breeze lost the toss and were inserted by the home side. Rupert Style and Paul Wakefield opened for Nomads but Roehampton didn't have to wait long for the breakthrough as Wakefield was castled by a delivery that looked to keep a touch low. Andy "Mighty Mouse" Hill was also quickly on his way, unfortunate to be run out after a misunderstanding with Style.

Saj Ayub and Style then forged an enterprising partnership of just over 50 in good time before Ayub was deceived by impressive leg-spinner Vaghela and bowled for 19. Sajjad Shawl came and went in the blink of an eye and Style once past 50 played a most un-Rupert like shot spooning an attempted lofted drive to be taken at cover by Roehampton captain Hamish Gunesekara for 52 from 78 balls

Brockton and Andrew Smith then went about forging a partnership of almost a hundred in the remaining 15 overs to get Nomads up to a respectable total. Brockton reaching his half century from 43 balls and ending up unbeaten on 65, Smith weighing in with a valuable 23 not out as Nomads declared on 183-5 from 38 overs.

With new ball in hand and a determined look on his face the mighty Sajjad Shawl tore in with the new cherry and had openers Gunesekara kiwi Modegger playing and missing 4 times an over. Gunesekara snicked off to Hill at 2nd slip but he unfortunately spilled the chance. Shawl was bowling such an immaculate line and length that no less than 4 slips and 2 gully's were employed throughout his opening spell. Andrew Smith at the other end was his usual miserly self going at less than 3 an over and after 15 overs Roehampton were stalling at 26-0.

Enter Rupert Style with an accurate and fast shy at the stumps from cover that resulted in the run out of the Roehampton skipper and when Andrew Smith removed the rotund Chauhan with his arm ball Nomads were in the ascendancy. The returning Ben Smith (now a 6"6 Chris Tremlett look-a-like) bowled with pace in his first match for the club in some 3 years and deserved the wicket of Modegger who had played well for his 71.

Unfortunately Roehampton member and left arm spinner Daryn Williams was not enjoying such success as his 5 overs were dispatched for 51 in two spellls getting Roehampton back into the game and with 10 overs left the home side needed just a shade under a run a ball. Brockton was introduced to the attack and swung the ball around, knocking back the off stump of Stephenson for 38, but by now Nomads fielding had become distinctly ragged and Roehampton were on the brink of victory. The home side finally won the game with some 3 overs of the 20 remaining, a run chase made easy for Roehampton.
