Opening win for Nomads
On a beautiful sunny game the skipper won the toss and elected to bat.Wakers and John Olufawo got off to a decent start against some decent seam bowling especially Simmons. Then just as Olufawo was getting into his stride his miscued and was caught,39-1. JT joined Wakers and despite scoring ine off the next over the innings momentum slowed down.JT was caught behindwhile withdrawing hist bat,61-2.Tom Marshall joined Wakers. At drinks after the 24th over Nomads were 72-2.The next 20 overs saw an acceleration with 150 runs being scored as both Tom and Owen Marshall hit fifties and Raymond Lashwayo a cameo 23. Nomads declared at 248-6 off 47 overs.
An excellent tea stimulated Chingford's opening batsmen especially as Omer Ayaz and Tom Marshall strived to find line and length and the score raced along aided by two dropped catches until Omer bowled Jamil Akhtar for a quick 28. Aussie Baldwin joined Navas Carder and the Chingford innings continue to motor along at a good rate. The introduction of slow bowlers Chris Page and Andy Marshall gradually reduced the run rate and eventually Pagie bamboozled Nawas who was well stumped by Keith Alexander,120-2.First ball after drinks at 20 Andy Marshall trapped Baldwin lbw for 51,125-3. Chingford continued to collapse, Pagie took two more and Andy Marshall one more,138-6.
James Hamilton replaced Andy Marshall and took three quick wickets but at the other end Raymond Lashwayo replacing a tired Pagie was punished by Sultan who hit a lusty 39 before being caught by Owen leaving Chingford all out for 183. Nine wickets had fallen for 63 runs. Quite a turn around!
