Nomads batsmen fail the bowlers
Nomads bowled well to restrict Wembley to a mere 150 off 46 overs, Paul Fielding being the pick of the bowlers with 3-12 off 9 overs. Misshra, Butcher and Page each took two. But for Joshi who hit a resolute fifty the innings would have been meagre indeed.
After a good tea Nomads made a solid start for the first wicket,41. With opener Jon Thornton anchoring one end it was hoped that another of the top six would build a partnership and take us comfortably and calmly to our modest target.
In the event 3 and 4 fell for 1 run,5 & 6 made it to the teens but Jon found it difficult to change gear and with the seveth wicket falling at 105 Nomads were still 46 short of victory with but six overs remaining. The seventh pair did add 20 and Jon did reach his fifty off 124 balls.
To fail to reach a target requiring but 4 an over with several Wembley statues in the field was disappointing. Nevertheless several Nomads lingered long in the Wembley CC bar before repairing to a Curry House in Sudbury Town.
