Rain spoils game Light rain spoilt this match and some heavier rain ended it early although later on it did clear up for a while. Nomads won the toss and batted and mad e a steady if rather pedestrian start. Many a single was spurned and just as the openers may have accelerated they were both out, first Omer Ayaz caught behind and then Christian Munoz caught off another mistimed shot,68-2 off 15 over Tom Liversidge found run making a struggle let alone running between the wickets and took a lot of the strike starving Olly Logan of the strike who holed out to long off in frustration,109-3 off 28 overs. Nomads had been digging themselves into a difficult position if a decent total was to be achieved. The skipper strode the wicket but was soon bowled by his opposite number Mark Armstrong,116-4 off 31 overs. Vib Yadav now joined Tom Liversidge and at once took control hitting many a boundary(7 fours and 5 sixes) and running Tom off his feet so as to keep the strike. As a result these two added 95 by the time the rain forced the players in. It was agred to halt Nomads innings at 37 overs and for Maidenhead & Bray to bat the same number of overs after tea once the rain had relented. the premature close was unfortunate as Vib looked likely to reach a century and Tom a fifty. On resumption Jamie Roper removed opener and wicket keeper Dixon in the third over.following a short stand Roper clean bowled number 3 and Vib removed the other opener in the next over,32-3 off 8 overs. Keith Juriansz and Alex Foulds took over and the run rate reduced with Keith having number 4 caught by Munoz,47-4,13 overs. Amin and Allen had added some 28 runs when the drizzle turned to heavy rain and the match was called off., 75-4 off 22.3 overs. Somewhat irritatingly as we drank after the match the clouds parted for a while to create a pleasant evening. |
