Mike Blake Fifty sets up Nomads Victory
Herts Over 50s won the toss and batted.Tyler and Hammond hit some boundaries off some loose early balls from Gregory and Fernando but in his second over Gregory clean bowled Hammond removing the middle stump. Tyler and Permott added 45 but then Page had Permott caught by Paul Reeve and next over Paul Fielding bowled Tyler, 58-3 off 18 overs.Johnson and Newman added 43 before both fell to Page. thereafter wickets fell steadily, Paul Reeve taking one while Tony MacDonald-Barker picked four. Herts were all out 154 in the 39th over having failed to exploit a good pitch and fast outfield.
After a very good tea Mike Blake and Richard MacKey added 87 before MacKey miscued and was caught. Blake carried on to complete a robustly struck fifty whereupon he was bowled. Andy Gregory 'The Pope' and 'No Knees' Chris Wilson added 40 in seven overs but with victory in sight Wilson was bowled. Richard Fanthorpe joined Andy Gregory and these two old club stalwarts saw Nomads to an early win on a very fine afternoon.
Both sides lingered enjoying a rare warm evening and a good few beers.
