Dominic Ramjag chases down the target successfully
Nomads lost the toss and Kensinghton chose to bat. Nomads were without their strike bowlers of the previous day but had a lot of batting.A chase therefore seemed a safe bet.
Mike Robbins, seam, opened at one end while Andy Smith, slow variation at the other. KCC had avanced to 32 before San Gore was caught behind off Robbins.Soon after Smith bowled the unussually elevated Bilgranni,37-2. Matt Syddall and Warren Williams now added 32 quick runs whereupon smith struck again bowling williams. Barreto struggled yet it was a frustrated Matt Syddall who was next out miscuing and caught by a good catch from Chris Pageoff Brockton who bowled a brief spell failing with the wet ball to achieve the swing of the previous day.David Steele put Barretto out of his misery trapping him stumped by Mackey,124-5.
There now developed a good stand between Rohan Ghosh and Matt Marshall during which some 62 runs were added. Ghosh was caught off Page by Brockton when seemingly set for a big score at 186. Steele then removed 8 and 9 and Page who had taken some stick had Marshall stumped for a good fifty. Kensington then declared generously ensuring both sides would have 42 overs.
After an excellent tea young Tom Liversidge and Richard MacKey. opened and in the 8th over Saikat Barua had Mackey caught behind,27-1.The total had reached 49 when Tom Liversidge was adjudged lbw leaving the field somewhat aggrieved. Stokes then joined Ramjag and took the score to 97 when Ghosh had Stokes caught behind,97-3. When the last hour was called Nomads required 125 runs to win.Andy Smith hit some sixes before being caught at cover point,142-4,after 8 overs. Brockton joined Ramjag and these two added a further 82 runs off 11.3 overs to win the match with 3 balls left.Dominic Ramjag had reached a fluent 75 with a fine selection of crisp well timed shots and was duly awarded the Nomads Man of the Match award-a bottle of Whisky.
Tom Brockton chose Matt Syddall as Kensington's Man of the Match and sampled the Cobra Special before handing it to Matt, a curious innovation. Kensington also presented Nomads with abottle of Whisky for the club. This bottle is with Tom Brockton for safe keeping!, Both teams then made their way to a local hostelry in Wing for a couple of pints before driving home celebrating a good afternoon's cricket at a magnificent setting.
