Missing Members Add to Nomads Difficulties

Russell Mann failed to turn up and Syd Mehra woke up ill and withdrew Sunday morning. This was unfortunate and contributed to a quite unnecessary defeat.Sargent's Men built their innings slowly against some useful bowling from Nomads. A little luck would have severely reduced the innings total which reached 187-9 after 47 overs, Philip Hodson being top scorere with 47.

Jeremy Lascelles had hit an unbeaten 85 against a good indian side but was cleaned bowled in the first over of Nomads reply. Woolhouse and blumberg seemed to be progressing safely at the required rate. but the loss of these two and soon after Clark saw a reckless batting performance thereafter as the innings folded to an ignominious 115. The ease with which Nomads wickets fell over at the end was disappointing in view of a credible bowling performance.

Sargent Men generously lent us a fielder throughout their innings. It is a pity this attractive conveniently located fixture is not better supported. After a victory in our first encounter Nomads have lost several times now
