Churchman ton sinks Nomads

Probably we should have chased as there was a lot of batting but little bowling al least little to challenge Churchman whose one chance off Andy Smith was spurned by deep mid off.

Nomads top order contrived to gift away their wickets when looking comfortable and full of runs. The innings lost momentum just as we needed it to accelerate in order to declare a bit earllier with a lot more on the board as young Amar Chand did not seem to understand the nuances of a declaration game. He scored 42 not out in the end but at the price of starving Natham Lamb of the bowling.

Amar was tidybehind the stumps and should have had two catches if the umpires weren't blind. The secondoffending batsmen did apologise profusely and he is a teenager and so he is forgiven! Centurion batsmen Churchman apologised for the umpire!.

Andy Woodhouse sped around the boundary to great effect although unfortunately his bowling was off target. The slow wiles of Chris Page, Andy Smith,Ben Bodi and Michael Blumberg created few mistakes though some mishits unluckily for us landed in no man's land. Churchman sailed untroubled to his second ton in two matches against us. Had we grasped the one chance he offered it would have been a different match. The wickets that fell were one a piece to Page,Smith and Bodi.

Bill Rodwell and Ben Smith came to support us and a good session was enjoyed with Brian Phillips et al at the bar long after England had defeated India at Lord's. George Bancroft Umpire left a wiser man in geographic terms.
