Nomads chase runs out of steam
Nomads took a fair team of players up to Stowe including two Australians and also two young sons of Andrew Smith.
Templars won the toss and found runs hard work against some accurate Nomads bowling, in particular from Jemile. When a flurry of wickets fell leaving Templars 167-5 Nomads had thoughts of a modest total to chase. However Harris rallied the innings and with good support from the tail added 119 runs before the declaration.
Nomads innings for the most part looked likely to reach its target. Paul Stanfield, Bill Johnson and Abdul Satter made useful contributions. At 215-4 Nomads anticipated success. Unfortunately wickets fell steadily accompanied a series of cameos and when Brad Murphy aiming for a second six over long on was very well caught on the boundary edge the chase was off.
A couple of ducks then put Nomads in some peril but Olly Smith and the President saw Nomads home with a draw.
When we retired to the Queen's Head in Chackmore Nomads were much amused to find the Templars had dressed up as clowns apart from Nick Rice who took to 'cross dressing'. There must have been a reason for this wardrobe extravaganza. It was not in honour or mockery of Nomads CC
