James While ton ensures win at Chesham

NOMADS had mixed fortunes on the opening weekend winning the match at Chesham where James While hit a fine century but contrived to lose to Met Police where despite 70 from James Smith the rest of the batting dissappointed. On both days there was some good bowling.

At Chesham James While,Joe Ireland and Amit Shanker bowled well and at Met Police veteran David MacVicar was outstanding taking 4 wickets though a bit slack with his catching!,Dawood Shah bowled tirelessly for 17 overs in all but with sparse reward. Andy Smith bowled a mean spell and Wakers proved unhittable for four overs at the close.

In both games we had the oppo' with their backs to the wall but let them recover to a decent score. With more catches taken both innings may have been much more modest. A young Hooligang had burned down the Chesham pavilion so we changed in a series of Porta Cabins and drank at a local pub afterwards.

However in our search for the suggested pub Wakers rammed team mates cars as we manouevered out of a wrong pub car park, luckily James's car avoided the mayhem! Apparently Chesham so enjoyed our company on the field that that they have invited us to return next year so we had better organise another Royal Wedding!
