Our friends from Italy took some time finding Chingford CC but we started eventually with Capannelle winning the toss and insering Nomads. The visitors had early success as both openers were out cheaply.John Olufawo missed astright slow full toss from Mike Robbins and Rupert Style gloved a leg side short ball from Michele Morettini,14-2,6 overs. Our two guests from Spain Jamie Roper and Christian Munoz added 41 before Christian mis hit a rank long hop from Ghulam and was caught.Dominic Ramjag joined Jamie and these two added a further 69 whereupon Jamie miscued a abll from Leandro Jayaraja., 124-4,23 overs. Omer Ayaz joined Dominic and these two batted well adding a fluent 70 runs in 9 overs.Had these two stayed to the end nomads would have posted aseriously challenging score but veteran skipper Alfonso Jayaraja and the returning Morettinni accounted for both. Two more wickets fell as the overs dried up leaving 'The Pope' and Mike Blake not out and the score a respectable 226. After an excellent tea Roper and Ayaz opened the bowling for Nomads and roper was rewarded with awicket in the first over. Ayaz had radar trouble causing the wicket keeper Charlie Dickins some trouble. Roper took a second wicket in his fifth over bringing in Weerasekera who promtly se tabout ayaz hitting him for 14 off his fifth over. He then hit christain Munoz for six but was undone by Andrew Gregory who had him caught by Rupert Style near the deep mid wicket boundary. Despite his first over mauling Munoz took two wickets removing Kisho and Ghulam.102-5,18 overs. Capannelle were well placed to chase down their target and Stevan looked equal to the task John Olufawo dreafted in as our fifth bowler bowled Leandro Jayaraja.137-6,25 overs.Aaron proved to be a good partner for Stevan and these two added 48. The two opening bowlers were brought back early and Omer Ayaz now on target bowled both Stevan and Aaron to remove the threat. Several wickets fell quickly ending with the run out of Anthony undone by a throw from the square leg boundary from John Olufawo. Nomads had won by 29 runs but the match had been in the balance until those two wickets from Omer. |
