Court Marshall as Cappannelle beaten
Nomads gave themselves just enough time to bowl out visiting Roma Cappannelle with 10 balls to go.Tom Marshall cleaned out the Roman tail as well the obdurate Kekulawala with a devastating spell including 4 wickets in 8 balls.
Nomads won the toss and elected to bat and the opening pair of Paul Wakefield and Tom Marshall found runs had to come against the seam attack of Michele Moretini and Mike Robins. Wakers had scored a fifty against the same attack a year before but a slow pitch with low bounce reduced him to a mere 6 off 28 balls whereupon he attempted his characteristic lofted extra cover drive only to mishit to the tall Kekulawala.
This was to be only Nomads wicket to fall as Vib Yadav and then eventuallt Tom Marshall hit centuries and the slow start 17 runs off 10 overs, 72 runs off 20 overs was long forgotten, In fact 164 runs came off the second 20 overs and the earlier good ground fielding of Cappannelle fell apart. Curiously Cappannelel skipper did not bring back Moretini or Robbins the best of the visitors bowlers on the day. Nomads declared once Tom Marshall has completed his maiden century for Nomads .
Enzo Nicoli took the first wicket and then suffered a hamstring niggle so he was replaced by Owen Marshall bowling offspin. He was soon rewarded with two well taken caught and bowled dismissals, Cappannelle mid order pair of Michele Moretini and Kelulawala added 63 before Andy Marshall had big hitting Moretini caught by son Owen for 43. Alessandro Sabelli slogged a quick 21 before being bowled by Owen Marshall and Andy bowled Leandro Jayaraja for 7(Leandro scored a century against us in Rome 2016),150-7.
Mike Robbins now joined Kekulawala and these two looked solid for 7 overs until Tom Marshall having replaced his brother induced an edge from Kekulalwala and so wrap up the innings.
The Marshall family had taken 9 wickets between them and young Tom had hit a century so bought his first Nomads jug. This was Vib Yadav;s thrid century for Nomads this season.
